I Especially related to the Buchloh article. Gerhard richter is my favorite artist and I admire his work . So when it said that even he (Richter ) did not know why he was creating the atlas or exactly what it meant (in the beginning) it was refreshing. Mainly because as a mfa student I am struggling with the concept of figuring out what my work means to me , to others,why im making it,how do I plan on affecting society with it,and what its about. To hear that Richter may have felt similar gives me some hope that I can resolve these issues with my artwork.
