mustache emporium close but open

How the viewer participates/interacts with closed and open art was defined very clearly in in Eco's article. I like how vague works of art are defined as inexhaustible and open. This seems to me be the vein of the readings and the course, open to the students senses and interpretations during seminar. Yet rather closed during readings of the text, which I believe the text is trying to become finite in definition. An impossible task when dealing with such a vague subject these days.....
