The readings seem to point to art used as a force for change within society. The student riots of 1968 or punk may not have happened if situationist theory was not around. I wonder what its effect is today. Is it possible that some of the techniques of the situationists have in some way been taken up by the very agencies that they were fighting against? Debords own films use techniques of pairing seemingly contrasting images and sound. This seems to be everywhere now. It is even used in advertising itself.
